Originally meant as a vantage point to spot wild fires, the decommissioned tower is one of 25 in the Adirondacks that can be climbed for a 360-degree view of the Adirondacks and Champlain Valley. The tower sits atop a 1,864ft peak that requires a 0.4-mile hike and 137ft elevation gain to reach. The beginning of this gravel road trail is located on Dalton Hill road.

Lake Champlain is a freshwater lake that has a total area of 514 square miles and stretches from Upstate NY all the way to Canada. Port Henry is one of the towns that line the coast of this impressive lake and therefore has all the perks a large can offer. Lincoln pond lends itself to many of the activities a big lake offers but in a quaint setting. An ideal place to put in a canoe and do some fishing without having to worry about heavy boater traffic or rough waves. Lincoln pond also tends to freeze over earlier in the season for those looking to get an early start on their ice fishing adventures. Boating access is possible via the Lincoln Pond Boat Launch located inside the Lincoln Pond Campground. There is a day use fee when the campground is open.

This secluded pond can be accessed via a hiking trail that will take you on a mild 1.6-mile roundtrip, starting from the trailhead at the North Hudson Road. The trail crosses over several creeks and ends at Hammond Pond where you’ll find a rewarding view and places to fish along its shoreline.
